Teaching Acronyms

I know not everyone who reads this blog is a teacher, so, for those who aren’t, here is a list of teaching acronyms.

Acronym /                Real-People-Speak

Abbreviation

AH                               Assistant Head

AHT                            Assistant Head Teacher

CPP                            Completely Pointless Paperwork (ok, not ‘official’ – but it should be!)

CPD                           Continuing Professional Development (training course)

DH                             Deputy Head

DHT                          Deputy Head Teacher

GTC                          General Teaching Council (now defunct)

INSET                      In-Service Educational Training

KS1                           Key Stage 1 (5 – 7 years old)

KS2                           Key Stage 2 (7 – 11 years old)

KS3                           Key Stage 3 (11 – 14 years old)

KS4                           Key Stage 4 (14 – 16 years old)

PPA                          Planning, Preparation & Assessment (non-contact time)

SLT                           Senior Leadership Team

SOW                         Scheme of Work

SMT                         Senior Management Team
